Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Plant Controller to be located at our Johnstown, OH location. The Plant Controller is responsible for all finance and accounting aspects of the plant, partnering with the plant management team in managing the manufacturing operations and meeting financial objectives. Key areas of focus for the Plant Controller include job costing, monthly performance analysis, budget and forecast development, and support and analysis of cost reduction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities of the Plant Controller:

  • Administer the A/P, and A/R

  • Administer the Executive and Salary payroll for the Johnstown facility

  • Complete all functions for the month-end and year-end closing for the facility

o Complete all Journal Entries

o Reconcile the plant checking accounts

o Balance side reports to the General Ledger

o Compile Financial Statements

o Record and maintain Fixed Asset information for the facility

o Research, investigate and maintain accurate information for Financial Statements & Balance Sheet Accounts

  • Month-end closing responsibilities, including reporting and analyzing variances to budget and forecast for the plant management team and divisional leadership

  • Supporting the plant in generating and quantifying cost savings opportunities

  • Provide financial analysis to management as requested

  • Preparing and developing the annual plant budget, including developing standards and updating the standards and period expense budgets.

  • Work with capital projects manager to ensure accounting software reflects the same spend as the capital cost book

  • Responsible for requests from internal and external auditors

  • Annually reviewing and evaluating internal control procedures in order to sustain SOX compliance and to manage and minimize financial risk at the facility

Required Qualifications for the Plant Controller:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent applicable experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing accounting

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, balance sheets, accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations, accounts receivable, and general ledger.

  • Knowledge of Windows applications, including Microsoft Office and Accounting software.

  • Ability to link and analyze plant operational metrics to financial performance

  • Proven operational leadership skills in implementing and supporting new ideas

Desired Qualifications for the Plant Controller:

  • 3+ years’ of experience as a plant controller in a product manufacturing environment

  • SAP, Hyperion, Epicor similar ERP/financial system knowledge and experience

  • Prior supervisory and/or management experience
