The ESG-eX team's mission is to build a lasting, scalable and trusted ESG reporting infrastructure to satisfy regulatory requirements and stakeholders’ expectations. We translate external requirements into internal needs and build tools and mechanisms that enable Amazon businesses to meet their ESG reporting obligations and effectively manage their ESG opportunities and risks.

We are seeking an ESG Risk Assessment Manager to support the development of the ESG impacts, risks, and opportunities program at Amazon. This role will support the creation and implementation of scalable mechanisms across Amazon to help identify and assess opportunities in line with upcoming mandatory ESG reporting requirements such as the EU CSRD. This role will collaborate with ESG/sustainability subject matter experts and businesses to identify and assess the most relevant ESG impacts, risks and opportunities for Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

• Support the development of a strategy and roadmap for the evolution and maturation of the ESG impacts, risks and opportunities assessment program over a multi-year period;

• Support the development and maintenance of mechanisms and products associated with the program development;

• Support the execution of ESG impact, risk, and opportunities assessments on an as needed basis;

• Facilitate data gathering workshops, surveys, interviews and other mechanisms;

• Monitor changes to ESG regulatory reporting requirements in relation to ESG impacts, risks, and opportunities;

• Deliver verbal and written status updates to senior executive leadership, partners, and other key stakeholders;

• Collaborate with ESG/sustainability subject matter experts, businesses, and corporate functions across key responsibilities outlined above.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant ESG subject matter-related work experience; including in a corporate or consulting environment;

• 2+ years of experience in corporate business process analysis, design, and continuous improvement;

• 2+ years of experience assessing, managing, and/or mitigating impacts or risks in a corporate environment;

• Experience working successfully with diverse internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams

• Familiarity with current and emerging ESG regulations and frameworks (CSRD/ESRS, EU Taxonomy, ISSB).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with life-cycle risk management (identify, assess, adjudicate, mitigate, monitor, report, and assure)

  • Experience developing in-house risk frameworks and methodologies, models, and/or tools to assess ESG risks;

  • Experience preparing written communications for diverse audiences, including senior executive leadership;

  • Ability to work with qualitative and quantitative data, including financial information;

  • Ability to deliver in ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment;

  • Ability to earn trust across different levels and multiple groups of a large organization, and drive resolution to challenges;

  • Ability to think strategically while staying on top of tactical execution;
