Armstrong Ceilings is currently seeking a Plant Electrical Engineer to join our Plant Engineering & Maintenance team in Newark, OH. The Plant Electrical Engineer will mainly be responsible for effectively providing engineering and technical support to the manufacturing operations, identify and execute process improvement and cost reduction initiatives, and handle the selection, design, and installation of capital projects.
Reporting to the Plant Engineering & Maintenance Manager, the Plant Electrical Engineer will work closely with other staff engineers and maintenance to provide engineering and technical expertise to support the manufacturing equipment, maintenance systems, and production processes. Moreover, he or she will play a critical role in our lean efforts as we continuously strive to improve our processes and reduce waste.
Responsibilities of the Plant Electrical Engineer:
Safely execute capital projects while ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met and exceeded
Serve as technical resource and leader to maintenance department
Assist with troubleshooting plant electrical systems and training on PLC's, VFD’s, HMI's, etc.
Investigate manufacturing problems within plant and recommend corrective action
Consult with production personnel, analyze supporting data, and follow through on recommendations to evaluate their effectiveness
Develop detailed design, specifications, and budgetary capital estimates for plant projects
Perform software programming and hardware upgrades to all site control systems
Replace obsolete equipment, improve performance, and drive down total cost of ownership
Manage all site licensing for Rockwell and Wonderware products
Participate in Lean efforts such as Kaizen events; place emphasis on creativity before capital investment
Identify and execute improvements within plant's maintenance and engineering systems and procedures
Represent needs of plant to ABPT project teams and communicate critical issues needing resolution back to the Plant
Transfer technical knowledge to other plant personnel and elevate organizational understanding and performance
Required Qualifications and Education of the Plant Electrical Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
3+ years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated project management skills
Industrial process control experience, including: PLC (Allen-Bradley), HMI (Wonderware & PanelView), Variable Frequency Drives, Instrumentation & Controls, 480 VAC power distribution.
Industrial networking and data management experience
Preferred Qualifications of the Plant Electrical Engineer:
Experience with Rockwell RSLogix 5, 500, 5000 Logix designer PLC software, Rockwell FactoryTalk View Machine Studio software, FactoryTalk Linx Gateway, AB PLC 5, Micrologix, Compactlogix and ControlLogix PLCs, Wonderware suite of programs (Data Historian, InTouch, Archestra, system platform), DeviceNet (RSNetworx) and Ethernet communications
Knowledge of tension control systems, Web guiding control systems, Servo Systems, Mixing and batching operations, Vision Systems, Instrument loop diagrams
Demonstrated design and layout of control panels and MCC panel schematics
EIT or FE, Professional Engineer

About the Location (Newark, OH)
Our Tectum manufacturing plant, one of seven Armstrong ceiling plants in North America, employs approximately 100 people across 2 shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of our Tectum product. With over 60 years of innovation and experience in reducing noise worldwide, our Tectum plant has the right product for your noise problem.
