Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Production Supervisor to be located in Pensacola, FL. Reporting to the Value Stream Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for providing management, coordination and continuous improvement of all aspects of the manufacturing process including cost targets, schedule adherence, quality processes, manufacturing process capability, manpower, maintenance integration, and product development initiatives. This position is primarily responsible for the value-adding process.
Key Responsibilities of the Production Supervisor:
Ensuring efficient and effective operation of production equipment and processes
Employee training and development on roles, responsibilities and accountability
Executing projects from Value Stream teams
Countermeasure follow-up and completing special causes
Coordinating activities around major shutdowns and holiday periods
Coordinating daily maintenance activities
Integrating maintenance work and production work around down days, including prioritizing work and scheduling production activities
Integrating operations with production planning, raw material flow, inventory, packaging, quality of material, and GIP
Identifying and planning for manpower requirements, overtime, maintenance required to complete standard and critical work
Coordinating new product development (NPD) activities in the operation
Providing for any necessary outside resources to drive results in operations
Developing, improving, documenting and deploying coordination processes and associated performance metrics
Developing and improving internal plant communication processes between operations, maintenance, lab, logistics, and the Armstrong Building Products Technology team
Developing and improving manpower utilization processes
Driving improvements in operations through effective down day planning and execution
Coordinating maintenance activities and improvement projects
Managing the completion of Root Cause Failure Analyses
Required Qualifications for the Production Supervisor:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
5 years of industrial related experience
Practical working knowledge of process improvement methods
Project management and/or organizational skills
Integration skills to leverage operations, maintenance staff support, internal and external suppliers
Proficiency with computer software and systems
Desired Qualifications for Production Supervisor:
College degree and/or Technical Degree
5+ years’ experience in first-line supervision in a manufacturing environment with an emphasis on process improvement in one of the following manufacturing technologies: Lean Manufacturing, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC), Six Sigma and/or Kaizen
Thorough knowledge of plant business system processes such as work order process, raw material flow, project planning, production, down day planning, work rules, and union contracts

About the Location (Pensacola, FL)
Our Pensacola Plant, one of six Armstrong ceiling plants, employs approximately 230 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers worldwide. The Pensacola Plant was originally built in 1929 to produce insulating building material. Pensacola was the first European-inhabited settlement in United States.
